Meet Jill
Stables 4 Jed is partnered with Jill Wonder of Hope Beyond the Stables, who is currently working to become certified in equine-assisted therapy.
Jill Wonder, LMHC, RPT-S
Jill is a licensed mental health counselor and a registered play therapist-supervisor. She has provided mental health services in the Crawford County community since 2012. Jill received her Bachelor's in Human and Social Services Administration and her Master's in Clinical Counseling through Bellevue University. She has worked in diverse population settings, including outpatient services for a local hospital and a community mental health center, where she was also a clinical supervisor.
After seeing the need in our area, Jill decided to take a step back from being a supervisor to focus on community members by providing services for those with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and grief. Grief is a deeply personal and complex journey. Jill uses an approach that is gentle, patient, grounded, and non-judgmental. This approach creates a safe space for clients to express emotions freely and at their own pace. Jill uses several different approaches to providing services to meet clients where they are at. Some of the modalities that Jill uses are Adlerian Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Mindfulness. Jill is working towards becoming dually certified for equine therapy to continue to bring quality and evidence-based therapy to the Crawford County area.
Developing a trusting, safe, and connected therapeutic relationship is the building block for therapeutic growth, and Jill strives to create a safe space for this to occur. Jill wants her clients to be able to explore their thoughts, emotions, and patterns to help make meaningful change. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, numb, stuck, or simply need someone to help you navigate grief or mental health, Jill can walk alongside you with empathy and care.
You are not alone.
and Billy
Billy is Jill's horse and he will be used for the majority of therapy sessions. He is an 8-year-old quarter horse. Billy started his life in Texas before finding his home in Iowa. Billy is Jill's trail horse and best friend. They have spent the last four years trail riding in Iowa and South Dakota. Billy has two different colored eyes that make him stand out. While shy at first, Billy will help you find courage, grounding, and connection.

"It's a blessing to love something that brings you back to what matters without saying a word. Standing beside a horse - feeling their warmth, their steady breath, their quiet presence- has a way of reminding you that peace doesn't have to be loud to be powerful."
Stable 4 Jed Horses
Argento
Argento is a 28-year-old quarter horse. He is the oldest horse in our herd and was the late Dan Muhlbauer’s (Jed’s Papa) horse. With his age comes much experience. He’s been all over various mountains, worked cattle, been on numerous trail rides, and participated in many of our local rodeos. He now gets ridden by all the youngsters who come to visit our family’s farm.
BP “Big Papa”
BP, formerly named “Wrench,” due to his face marking, is a Belgian that was donated to the Stables by our neighbors, Dale & Susan Hinners. We like to think of him as our gentle giant and the Stable’s mascot. While his size might be intimidating, he is a big teddy bear who just wants affection.
Rhea
Rhea was also donated to us by Nathan Ohl, in honor of his father. She came from the Dunlap, Iowa area. Nathan wanted Rhea to live out the rest of her life in a well-loved environment. This horse has a very calm and gentle temperament.
Rose
Rose is a 4-year-old quarter horse that came from Nisha Valley Farms, located in Audubon, Iowa. She is an extremely calm and patient horse who is still learning. While she won’t be used immediately for services at the Stables, she has great potential as she continues to be trained. She is soft and gentle, with a striking face.
Axl
Axl is a 3-year-old quarter horse that also came from Nisha Valley Farms, located in Audubon, Iowa. Axl is still young but is learning quickly. We recently used him as a stud in hopes of getting 4 colts this upcoming Spring (2026). We hope to eventually be able to use him at the Stables once he gets further with training.
